Steadfast Earth Deity Ritual Manual
中天竺國大那蘭陀寺善無畏奉 詔譯(亦名輸娑迦羅三藏)
Translated by Śubhākarasiṃha of the Great Nālandā Monastery in Central India(Also known as Śubhakara Three Baskets)
爾時堅牢地天及大功德天俱共從座而起，白佛言：「世尊！若有比丘、比丘尼、優婆塞、優婆夷、童男童女等常攝五根，繫念至心我地天及功德天，禮拜恭敬供養及念誦我真言者，我恒常出地味資潤彼人，令其身中增益壽命。是地精氣充溢行者身中，得色力、得念、得喜、得精進、得大智慧、得辯財、得三明六通，人天愛敬，得無比無盡大福德。譬如輪王聖主福德，得在在處處行者，所住之處譬如忉利天園觀，此生彼生及千生萬生無極，得巨多廣大福，得日日千萬眷屬掬養，亦無量無數有情艱難之類，活備資生庫倉充溢七珍無限，象寶、馬寶及輪寶、隨心女寶即不呼自來限死生。如是法行比丘，或以種種金銀寶珠、種種資生、種種穀米具足供給。如是繫念，從初夜至中後夜，坐臥行立念法，心無彼外緣。行者為營寺舍、或造一屋、或一樹林、或復衣食坐臥床鋪，於病患湯藥、種種資生常供給之。彼得如是無乏少已，身得安穩無有憂愁。心常歡喜，得好福田成就法器。如是施已，當來之世得大果報，深心樂法、不生惡道、不造惡法。我如是護彼人，即得修慈悲心，如是種種勝妙善根增長不減。」佛言：「善哉善哉！此是汝等精進之心，於大乘中速能增長福之力。」
At that time, the steadfast Earth Deity and the great Goddess of Merit rose together from their seats and said to the Buddha: "World-Honored One! If monks, nuns, laymen, laywomen, boys, or girls constantly guard their five senses, focus their minds with single-hearted devotion, and revere, honor, and make offerings to us—the Earth Deity and the Goddess of Merit—and recite our true mantras, then we will always draw forth the essence of the earth to nourish that person, increasing their lifespan. The earth’s vital energy will fill the practitioner’s body, granting them radiance and strength, clarity of mind, joy, diligence, great wisdom, eloquence, the three insights and six supernormal powers, and the love and respect of gods and humans. They will obtain incomparable, inexhaustible great merit—like the blessings of a universal monarch. Wherever such a practitioner dwells becomes like the gardens of the Heaven of the Thirty-Three. From this life to the next, for a thousand lives or ten thousand lives without end, they will gain vast and immense fortune, with hundreds of thousands of attendants daily, and countless beings in need will be supported. Their storehouses will overflow with the seven treasures—elephant treasures, horse treasures, wheel treasures, and the wish-fulfilling maiden who comes unbidden, transcending birth and death.
For such Dharma-practicing monks, we will provide gold, silver, pearls, all kinds of necessities, and various grains in full measure. When they thus maintain their focus—from the first watch of the night through the middle and last watches, whether sitting, lying, standing, or walking, keeping their minds on the Dharma with no external distractions—we will constantly supply them with shelter, whether a monastery, a single room, a grove of trees, clothing, food, bedding, medicine for illness, and all manner of daily necessities. Once they lack nothing, their bodies are at ease and free from worry. Their hearts are always joyful, they become vessels of good fortune, and they perfect the capacity for enlightenment.
Having given in this way, in future lives they will reap great rewards: a profound delight in the Dharma, no rebirth in unfortunate realms, and no commission of unwholesome deeds. Thus I protect such a person, enabling them to cultivate compassion and compassion—and all kinds of excellent virtuous roots that grow and never diminish."
The Buddha said: "Excellent, excellent! This is your diligent aspiration, which can rapidly increase the power of merit in the Great Vehicle."
爾時地神堅牢及功德天相與白佛言：「為欲利益安樂故說心真言。」爾時佛告地神功德言：「汝等善哉！為利益一切眾生欲說神呪，隨汝恣意說。」即說呪曰：
At that time, the Earth Deity Solid Ground and the Goddess of Merit together said to the Buddha: "For the sake of benefiting and bringing peace to all, we wish to speak the Heart Mantra." Then the Buddha said to the Earth Deity and the Goddess of Merit: "Excellent! Since you wish to speak the sacred mantra for the benefit of all beings, speak as you please." Then they spoke the mantra:
「曩莫三曼多母馱南(一)唵(二)鉢羅(二合)婆(三)囉怛儞(四)設哩三曼多(五)阿馱阿馱(六)阿豆阿豆(七)比里底毘比里底毘曳(八)莎訶」
Namo samanta buddhanam(1) Om(2) Prap(2+)bh(3) ratni(4) Shari samanta(5) Adha adha(6) Adu adu(7) Bhrity bhritye(8) Svaha
「若有人誦持此呪滿足十萬遍，為最初法誦呪供養地天者，富貴無極、七珍無限，速成一切悉地。
「又次說根本身印。
「合掌，以二頭指及二小指叉在掌中，二中二無名直立頭相拄，以二大指並立押二頭指側，大指來去，成辦諸事業。
「復次說諸成就護摩之法。以稻穀華護摩，得五穀豐登成就。
「又法以闍底華護摩，蠶養千斤成就。
「又法以粳米護摩，得無盡福德及殖生生福田。
「又法一神居住之處，眾人來集其所護摩，得巨多富。
「又法以大麥小麥護摩，富貴。
「又法以兢婁草護摩，得無數六畜財。
「又法大藥叉住古墓前，以闍底華護摩，得大富。
「又法以含華護摩，得人愛。
「又法福神所住欲呼得者，以青馬尾各絕截一寸二十一支，每時護摩念，福神必來付我身。
「又法青馬屎以前地天明加持二十一遍，即壇上及倍人乞大竈額上塗，即得如意富。
「又法以青馬額髮毛，福神祭二十一支，福神必悅授福。
「又法有福人家竈額上土取，臘月八日持來我所安置，必得富。取土時用前天呪二十一遍。須達多優婆塞、壇畢理優婆塞、福寶光明優婆夷行此法。
「又法土氣強盛，為四眾致刑罰，又以前明加持，得除差。
「又法長者家碓下土取護摩，必得富。
「又法長者墓口裏土取護摩，又得富。
「可畫堅牢地神像法。
「男天肉色，左手持鉢盛華、右手掌向外。女天白肉色，右手抱當心、左手抱當股。」
