> Mother-in-law

外姑一旦殞高堂 霧慘風悲動白楊無奈真魂歸北府 空留遺愛在東床傷心謾有千行淚 報德須憑一瓣香更聽三題真般若 好乘妙果往西方

> The aunt passed away, leaving the hall bereft, Fog drear, winds mourn, the white poplars stir. Her spirit, helpless, returns to the northern court, Leaving only her kindness in the son-in-law's heart. Grief unmeasured, a thousand tears in vain, To repay her grace, one stick of incense must suffice. Hear too the threefold true Prajna, That she may ride its wondrous fruit to the Western Land.

生來死去本無憑 杳隔冥關幾萬程不謂外親今去世 痛教半子倍傷情北堂忍見愁雲黯 東坦空聞淚雨盈願假陰功資薦枝 早隨王母上蓬瀛

> Born and dying, life's course has never been certain, A dark divide of countless miles, the underworld's curtain. Unexpectedly, a dear one now departs from this earthly sphere, A grieving son-in-law's heart aches with sorrow severe. The northern hall bears the gloom of a heavy, mourning sky, The eastern chamber hears but tears that fall and multiply. May hidden merit aid the soul upon its final flight, Early may she join the Queen Mother in paradise's light.
