> Recommendation for the Mother

泣血三年痛念子羔之志。不飲七日重傷曾參之心。動王脩輟杜之誠。起隱之感隣之歎。雖古今之事或異。而子母之情不殊。痛念某人處閻浮世現女人身。內克盡於姆儀。外允諧於族屬。恩深鞠育。德備劬勞。本期椿筭綿綿不忘戲綵。豈謂萱堂寂寂遽起傷心。

> Three years of weeping blood, grieving deeply like Zi Gao's devotion. Seven days without food, profoundly moved like Zeng Shen's heart. Stirring the king's sincere resolve to abandon the throne, awakening the recluse and drawing sighs from neighbors. Though events in ancient and modern times may differ, the bond between mother and child remains the same. With deep sorrow, we recall that <note>a certain person</note> dwelt in the Jambudvipa world, manifesting a woman's form. Inwardly, she fulfilled the model of motherhood; outwardly, she harmonized with her kin. Her grace was deep in nurturing, her virtue complete in toil. We had hoped her years would stretch long like the pine, never forgetting the joy of pleasing her. But who could foresee that the peaceful hall would fall silent, suddenly stirring grief in our hearts.
