### 丈母

雲愁半夜痛傷岳母之俄傾。雨泣新秋忍對門䦨之發歎。千秋遽別。半子何依。欲懿魄之超昇。仗善因而薦拔。敬念丈母某人。生男克孝譽已振於北堂。育女有家愛特崇於東坦。將謂享百年之壽。豈期為一疾之終。曉山黯黯散愁雲。夜壑茫茫奔逝水。

> Clouds grieve in the midnight hour as we mourn my mother-in-law's sudden passing. Rain weeps in the early autumn, and I can hardly bear to face the doorway and sigh. A thousand years of parting come all too soon—where can a son-in-law now turn? To aid her noble spirit's ascent, I rely on good deeds for her deliverance. With reverence, I think of my mother-in-law: she raised sons who were filial, their reputation spreading through the northern hall; she raised daughters who married well, and her love shone especially on this son-in-law. We thought she would enjoy a hundred years of life, but who could foresee that one illness would end it all. The morning hills grow dim, scattering sorrowful clouds; the night valley stretches endlessly, carrying away the rushing waters.
