### 唱衣

> “唱衣” (Chàngyī) — This is a Buddhist monastic term referring to the ceremonial auction of a deceased monk's robes and belongings, a traditional practice in Chinese Buddhism.

輪王髻中珠。不直半分錢。迦葉糞掃裏。價直百千萬。者个是某人禪師平生受用不盡底。且道不作貴不作賤有人酬價麼。若無人酬。放一線道一唱五百。

> The pearl in the wheel-turning king's crown is not worth half a penny. But the rag found by Kasyapa in the rubbish heap is worth a hundred thousand. This is what a certain Zen master has enjoyed throughout his life, inexhaustibly. Now tell me—can anyone set a price for it, neither too high nor too low? If no one can, I'll let a thread pass through<note>one chant, five hundred</note>.
