The path of faith is the temporary dwelling of ancient sages and the guiding mirror for future generations. If one fails to grasp its source, how can one illuminate the great matter? I fear that later learners may mix gold with sand and view jade as common stone, thus losing the distinction between host and guest and failing to discern the principles of reverence and humility. Therefore, I have gathered the profound and wondrous teachings of ancient sages, organized their essence into twelve gates, arranged them according to their flow, each with its proper place. From the shallow to the deep, all converge without deviation. This is called the *Diagram of Profound Insight*, offering a discerning eye for careful verification. Each gate is briefly outlined according to its category, and the rest can be understood accordingly. The Gate of Samantabhadra.
All of the above ten points are gathered back into this essential nature. The whole function is exhausted within the Dharma gate.
If you cling to any one school, you miss the complete truth. If you fixate on any single path, you still cannot let go. These are all incomplete ways.
It is like when Great Compassion returned to the abbot’s quarters, and Mingjue ordered Nanquan to strike Zhaozhou and then drive him out. Again, from all eight directions and four quarters, this is precisely the moment to raise the staff and strike.
Moreover, the remaining hemp is three catties. Nine times nine is eighty-one. In Qingzhou, a single cloth robe weighs seven and a half catties. Such talk is entirely without basis, exceeding the standard measure, and therefore it is not adopted. There are further expedient means, such as direct pointing and secret pointing, as clarified in the three mysteries and eight positions. To understand the ultimate destination and purpose of the diagram, one should examine the structure and details carefully. The enlightened mind will then be able to perceive it.
