The *Sutra on the Dharma of Negligence* translated by the Dharma Torch Master during the Western Jin Dynasty is an important Buddhist scripture. This sutra addresses the potential laxity within the monastic community of that time, profoundly expounding the severe consequences for practitioners who fail to uphold the precepts strictly and allow negligence to arise in their minds. It emphasizes the core significance of diligent practice for liberation. Reflecting the emphasis on precepts and the attitude toward cultivation during the early transmission of Buddhism into China, this sutra serves as a warning and inspiration for later disciples. It holds significant guiding value in the discipline and practical cultivation of Mahayana Buddhism, standing as one of the authoritative scriptures cautioning against spiritual negligence.
