A woman of the Sui dynasty. She was the wife of Elder Xue and the mother of the monk Dinggai. She recited and chanted the various sutras, diligently practiced the repentance rituals, and resolved to seek rebirth in the Pure Land. In the eleventh year of the Zhenguan era of the Tang dynasty, she fell ill, and her devotion became even more earnest. Suddenly she saw before her bed a red lotus flower, as large as a five-hu jar. Then she saw blue lotus flowers filling the entire room. Amitabha Buddha, Guanyin, and Dashizhi descended and appeared in the sky. Her grandson Daxing was attending at her side and saw the Buddha's body tall and majestic, towering far above the two Bodhisattvas. After a long while, they vanished, and Mrs. Wang passed away.(Continued Biographies of Eminent Monks)
