### △入浴第十二

先以湯洗面。從上至下。徐徐洗之。

> First, wash your face with warm water. Gently cleanse from the forehead down to the chin.

若別有淨水。則不宜以浴湯洗面。浴畢出外。當用澡豆。或灰土。再三淨洗兩手。然後洗面。溫室經。洗浴能除七病。一四大輕安。二除風氣。三除痺濕。四除寒冷。五除熱氣。六除垢穢。七身清目明。然亦不得數洗。除時因緣。

> If there is clean water available separately, one should not use bathwater to wash the face. After bathing, when going outside, one should use bathing beans or fine earth to thoroughly cleanse both hands, and then wash the face. According to the \*Warm Room Sutra\*, bathing can eliminate seven ailments: first, the four elements become light and at ease; second, it dispels wind energy; third, it removes dampness and stiffness; fourth, it eliminates coldness; fifth, it clears away heat; sixth, it washes away filth and impurities; seventh, the body becomes pure and the eyes clear. However, one should not bathe too frequently, except for special circumstances.

不得麤躁以湯水濺鄰人。不得浴堂小遺。

> Do not be rough or splash hot water on others. Do not urinate in the bathing area.

小遺。或云小行。或云小解。或云小淨。或云小便。淨地尚不可遺。況浴堂中。僧護經云。比丘在淨地大小便利。不擇處所。以是因緣。入地獄中。作肉廁井。火燒受苦不息。莊嚴寶王經云。若於常住地涕唾者。是人生於娑羅樹中。為針口蟲。經十二年。若於常住地大小便利者。是人於波羅柰大城。大小便利中生。為穢污蟲。優鉢祗王經云。伽藍法界內地。漫亂大小便。五百生墮拔波地獄。後二十劫。常遣肘手抱此穢地。乃至黃泉。

> Minor excretion. Some call it minor action. Some call it minor release. Some call it minor purification. Some call it urination. Even in a clean area, it is still not permissible to excrete. How much less in a bathing hall. The \*Sutra on the Protection of Monks\* states: If a monk urinates or defecates in a clean area, not choosing an appropriate place, because of this cause, he will fall into hell, becoming a flesh latrine pit, burned by fire, suffering without cease. The \*Sutra of the Adorned Jewel King\* states: If someone spits or drools on the permanent dwelling grounds, that person will be born within a sala tree as a needle-mouthed insect for twelve years. If someone urinates or defecates on the permanent dwelling grounds, that person will be born in the great city of Varanasi, within urine and feces, as a filth-defiled insect. The \*Sutra of King Upatishya\* states: If one randomly urinates or defecates within the boundaries of a monastery's Dharma realm, for five hundred lifetimes one will fall into the Papa Hell. Afterwards, for twenty kalpas, one will constantly be made to hug this filthy ground with one's elbows and hands, down to the Yellow Springs.

不得共人語笑。人天寶鑑云。一沙彌入浴戲笑。遂感沸湯地獄之報。

> Do not engage in frivolous talk and laughter with others. The \*Precious Mirror of Humans and Devas\* records: A novice monk, while bathing, engaged in playful laughter and consequently received the retribution of being reborn in the boiling cauldron hell.

戲笑感報尚爾。其餘則可知矣。

> Even the consequences of jesting are so severe. How much more so for the rest?

不得洗僻處。

> Do not wash in a secluded place.

大小便處也。

凡有瘡癬。宜在後浴。或有可畏瘡。尤宜迴避。免刺人眼。

可畏瘡。即癰疽等惡瘡。自須迴避。取水別浴。勿令人見。或人浴訖。最後方浴。不然則損福招罪。

不得恣意久洗。妨礙後人。

恣意。謂恣情縱意。經云。不得在中浣衣。

附　脫衣著衣。安詳自在。

謂不得輕躁倉卒。

浴前先洗淨。須細行。不得以洗淨水入浴釜。

當未入浴之前。先如法洗淨洗手已。然後入浴。今時有以少水在浴堂邊洗淨。復不以灰土洗手。即入洗浴。與不洗無別。甚為穢污。自污污他。感報不輕。

湯冷熱。依例擊梆。不得大喚。

依例謂依常規也。其中浴具盆器澡豆等。當安置如法。用者亦須如法。免招後殃。如僧護所見者是也。
