Sutra on the Vajra Mantra of Destroying Signs
Reverend Salaba, Tripitaka Master, Grand Preceptor and Grand Director of the Three Jewels, Translated by Imperial Decree
Thus have I heard:
At one time, the Bhagavan dwelt at the Vajra Seat. After the Tathāgata's spiritual power transformed Vajrapāṇi’s body into adamantine, he entered the Vajra Samādhi that very day. At that moment, empowered by the Buddha’s might and the combined blessings of all Tathāgatas and Bodhisattvas, Vajrapāṇi, in his wrathful form, proclaimed this supremely excellent Vajra Heart Dhāraṇī. This dhāraṇī is unbreakable, steadfast, and profoundly true. It is unobstructed and knows no timidity. It instills awe in all beings, enabling them to overcome their afflictions. It nullifies all mantras, suppresses them, and destroys all practices while vanquishing opposing ones. It subdues and dispels demons, severs demonic attachments, and captures all various spirits. Moreover, it ensures that the mantra practices of sentient beings—if not yet perfected—will reach completion; if already perfected, their efforts will not be in vain, and all their wishes will be fulfilled. It also protects all beings, pacifies calamities, and increases beneficial qualities. Furthermore, it can restrain and stupefy harmful beings. All such powers come from this Dhāraṇī-Pāramitā. Empowered by the Buddha, Vajrapāṇi then spoke this mantra:
