The *Jiaohu Ji* (Anthology of the Horned Tiger) was compiled by the Linji school monk Ji Neng during the Qing Dynasty, completed in the Kangxi era. This work primarily gathers essential teachings and dialogues on the dual cultivation of Chan and Pure Land from eminent Chan masters throughout history, such as Yongming Yanshou and Yunqi Zhuhong, and includes biographies of those who were reborn in the Pure Land. Its title derives from the metaphor in Master Yongming’s "Four Criteria for Chan and Pure Land": "Having both Chan and Pure Land is like wearing horns on a tiger," emphasizing the integrated path of Chan and Pure Land practice. As a significant text in the history of the convergence of Chan and Pure Land thought in Chinese Buddhism, the *Jiaohu Ji* systematically organizes the theoretical and practical foundations for the joint cultivation of Chan and Pure Land. It has profoundly influenced later Pure Land faith and the fusion with Chan methods, serving as an important canonical source for the study of Buddhist thought in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
