The Sutra on the Mantra of Ratnasambhava, spoken by the Buddha, was translated by the Northern Song dynasty monk Shihu. This scripture belongs to the esoteric Buddhist canon, centered on Ratnasambhava Buddha, and expounds his mantra and methods of practice. The main content of the sutra revolves around the merits of Ratnasambhava Buddha, proclaiming that reciting this mantra can bring increase in blessings and wisdom, abundance of wealth, and the attainment of both worldly and transcendent benefits. In Buddhism, Ratnasambhava is one of the Five Wisdom Buddhas, representing the southern direction and the wisdom of equality. This sutra is an important text for understanding the esoteric practices related to wealth deities and the devotion to Ratnasambhava, embodying the Han transmission of esoteric Buddhism's emphasis on both the accumulation of merit and the perfection of wisdom.

If there are beings who receive, uphold, and make offerings to the name and mantra of this Tathāgata, they will be reborn in the position of a wheel-turning king in life after life, accomplish the pure life of Brahma, possess great supernatural powers, and attain ten kinds of mantras. Furthermore, they will encounter as many Tathāgatas as the sands of the Ganges River, without falsehood, and for a koṭi of kalpas, they will not enter the path of rebirth, will not break the seed of enlightenment, will not lose the mind of enlightenment, will forever extinguish all sins, and will attain the reward-body of a Tathāgata.

If a person recites this for a full seven days, that person will attain pure divine vision. If a person hears it with their ear and repeatedly remembers it, that person will certainly attain enlightenment, and the good roots planted in past lives will also manifest in the present. If one transmits this to even one other person, all their uninterrupted sinful karma will be eradicated, and they will forever cut off the cycle of rebirth. Such a person will not be harmed by water, fire, thieves, or robbers; their senses will be complete, they will not fall ill, they will not be possessed by ghosts or spirits, and they will be loved and respected by all. In future lives, they will receive and uphold the subtle teachings of the Tathāgata and make offerings to all Buddhas.

If a person hears this, rejoices in heart, bows, and praises it, that person’s merit will be immeasurable and boundless. In life after life, a wondrous fragrance will emanate from their mouth, spreading for a yojana, and from the pores of their body, a constant radiance will shine, always illuminating themselves. They will always accomplish victorious deeds of the Tathāgata, like Ānanda. Such inconceivable merit will be theirs.
