### 越州慧法師

沙門法慧。生于夏侯氏。自成童。有卓識。及剪青螺。言行益峻。宋大明年東游禹穴。歸老天柱峰。課誦法華終身匪懈。受用清淡。󰡾食布衣而已。常居一閣。不涉人間者三十餘年。王侯稅駕無復得見。唯周顒以信解兼深特與相接。時有慕德瞻禮者。或因顒次得一見之梁高僧傳。

> The monk Faxi was born into the Xiahou family. Even as a child, he showed remarkable insight. After he shaved his head and became a monk, his words and conduct grew ever more strict and upright. In the Da Ming era of the Song dynasty, he traveled east to Yu's Cave, and later returned to spend his old age on Tianzhu Peak. He recited the Lotus Sutra throughout his life without ever growing slack. He was content with a simple life, eating only plain food and wearing only cloth robes. He often stayed in a single chamber, never setting foot among the worldly for over thirty years. Princes and nobles who came to visit could no longer get to see him. Only Zhou Yong, who combined deep faith with profound understanding, was specially permitted to meet with him.
