The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Jue'an Kexiang was compiled by his dharma successors Miao'en, Zhengcong, Ziyong, Shoujing, Cizheng, and Zongyong. Chan Master Kexiang, a dharma heir of Duanqiao Miaolun, was active during the 13th century. The text contains his teachings, dharma talks, exchanges of sharp wit, and verses, reflecting the distinctive features and style of his Chan practice. This work serves as an important document for studying the Chan thought and lineage of the Linji school in the Southern Song dynasty, embodying the typical style of Chan recorded sayings from the Song period. It holds significant historical and religious value for understanding the development of Chan Buddhism and the master-disciple transmission of that era.
