### 婆子燒庵剡城周九賓求頌

> The Old Woman Burns the Hermitage

撲面來時無一物。明眼衲僧莫輕忽。屈屈。若是臨濟揣出骨。

> When it comes rushing at you, there is not a single thing. Clear-eyed monks, do not take this lightly. How tragic! How tragic! If it were Linji, he would have dug out the bone.

德山棒。臨濟喝。這箇婆子與並列。堪笑韓獹逐塊徒。浩浩商量無盡歇。

> A Zen master holds a staff, Another lets out a shout; This old woman stands alongside them— A ridiculous hound chasing mere clods of earth, As crowds debate and theorize with endless, restless noise.

明得目前事。老婆賊已敗。打出虗空髓。莫教尋內外。

> See clearly what’s right before you. The old woman and the thief have been exposed. Strike out the very marrow of empty space— Don’t seek for it inside or out.

撲頭撲面。機如閃電。擬欲相酬。即已不便。

> A sudden blow, right to the face. A sharp mechanism, like a flash of lightning. If you try to respond, you've already missed the moment.
