### 為信侍者封關

> For Attendant Xin Entering Seclusion

揭却拄杖頭。封却布袋口。分付主人公。心猿莫外走。信侍者。還肯麼。匙鑰在山僧手裏。繇不得汝也。直教一千日後。與汝相見。封竟乃云。鎻則鎻矣。封則封矣。未審還有人解得轉身通氣句也無。若無。山僧自道去也。竹密不妨流水過。山高豈礙白雲飛。

> Lay down the walking stick. Seal shut the mouth of the cloth sack. Give these instructions to the master of the house: don’t let the heart-monkey run outside. Trusted attendant, do you accept this? The key is in my hand, the mountain monk’s hand. You have no say in it. I will meet with you after a thousand days. After sealing, I said: "Locked, then—locked. Sealed, then—sealed. But is there anyone who can understand the phrase that turns around and breathes freely? If not, this mountain monk will speak for himself. Dense bamboo does not hinder flowing water; high mountains do not block floating clouds."
