### 募刻淨諸業障經䟽

> Engraving the Sutra on Purifying All Karmic Obstacles

余聞福事雖多。要知所擇。是以十善修行。報感生天。半偈隨喜。功超沙界。其優劣如此。能無擇乎。故善勝則福勝。緣輕則福輕。此必然之事也。假如造橋砌路。究竟果報。利益人天。供佛齋僧。較量功德。祇完一己。孰若價踰七寶。功勝小乘。直使片言隻字。四方流聞。萬世廣播。以大乘經。書刻流通。用廣其傳。未聞者聞。未見者見。非惟佛慧無窮。抑且令受持者。斷輪迴。出生死。證涅槃。成菩提。未有不本於此者矣。若以其功德較量。直以虗空喻之。而勿能齊焉。向余簡閱大乘律部。見淨諸業障經。菩薩戒本經。并揭磨儀軌。真後學之津梁。渡世之寶筏也。是以抄錄佩帶。日課有年矣。禪友徹泉。過石佛。見予躬讀。欣然發願。募諸四方。刻以流通。余時合掌加額曰。豈期濁世有知音。若是禪友者。因喜而授之。其間文旨精玅。功德淵深。如來自讚。展卷當見。能遵此志。必會龍華。少助片緣。非同浪施謹䟽。

> I have observed that although there are many meritorious deeds, one must know how to choose among them. Thus, practicing the ten good deeds leads to rebirth in the heavenly realms, while rejoicing in half a verse of scripture yields merits that transcend the world of form. The difference between superior and inferior is this—can one afford not to choose wisely? Therefore, as goodness prevails, so does merit; as conditions are lighter, so is merit lighter. This is an inevitable truth. For instance, building bridges and paving roads, in their ultimate reward, benefit both humans and gods; offering to the Buddha and feeding the monastic community, when comparing their merits, merely completes one's own virtue. How could it compare with a value surpassing seven jewels and merits exceeding the Small Vehicle? Directly, even a single word or phrase spreads far and wide across the land, broadcast for ten thousand generations. By writing and printing the Mahayana scriptures and circulating them widely, we extend their transmission so that those who have not heard may hear, and those who have not seen may see. This not only ensures the infinite wisdom of the Buddha but also enables those who uphold and practice them to cut off the cycle of rebirth, escape birth and death, realize nirvana, and attain enlightenment—all of which originate from this very act. If we were to compare these merits, we would liken them directly to empty space, for nothing else can match them. In the past, while examining the Mahayana Vinaya texts, I came across the Sutra on Purifying Karmic Obstructions, the Bodhisattva Pratimoksha Sutra, and the Karma Rituals. These are truly a bridge and a precious raft for crossing the world, beneficial to later practitioners. Therefore, I have copied them down, carried them with me, and recited them daily for years. My meditation friend, Chequan, passing by the Stone Buddha Temple, saw me earnestly reading them and joyfully made a vow to raise funds from various directions to print them for circulation. At that moment, I joined my palms and raised them to my forehead, saying, "How could I have expected to find a kindred spirit in such a turbid world?" I was delighted and thus entrusted the texts to him. The meaning and wording within are exquisitely profound, and the merits are deep and vast, as the Tathagata himself praises them—one need only open the scroll to see this. Those who can uphold this vow will surely meet at the Dragon Flower Assembly. Offering a small contribution to this cause is not like a reckless donation. Respectfully recorded.
