### 募造東塔天王殿引

> Appeal for Building the Eastern Tower Heavenly King Hall

聞夫四十八願而願願度生。五十三參而參參見佛。所以清涼大師。演華嚴性海於此地。闡法界一乘於多門。福慧雙修。猶星天之行布。禪教兩學。若萬派之歸宗。圓融自在。大小共繇。故茲山為嘉禾生福之地。行善之場也。近因山門回祿。四天王無處安身。發願重營。老比丘無能幹辦。繇是置簿五十三冊。人領一冊。冊化五十三人。人出一錢。合計五兩三錢。或一人獨出。或鳩眾共成。隨緣皆可。積少成多。猶為山之始于一簣。合力共謀。若掬水可為巨海。勝會難逢。良緣休蹉。予言如是。各出隻手。

> A reflection on the Forty-Eight Vows: each vow delivers beings from suffering. The Fifty-Three Visits: each visit brings one into the presence of the Buddha. Thus Great Master Qingliang expounded the ocean-like nature of the Avatamsaka Sutra in this very land, revealing the One Vehicle of the Dharma Realm through many gateways. He cultivated both merit and wisdom, like the orderly progression of stars across the heavens. He studied both Chan and doctrine, as all rivers return to the ocean. Perfectly integrated and unobstructed, both great and small share the same source. For this reason, our mountain is a place that gives rise to blessings, a field of wholesome action. Recently, the main gate of our temple was destroyed by fire, leaving the Four Heavenly Kings without a place to dwell. I have vowed to rebuild, but this old monk cannot accomplish this alone. Therefore, we have prepared fifty-three books, with each person receiving one. Each book seeks to inspire fifty-three people. Each person gives one coin, totaling five taels and three mace of silver. One person may donate the full amount alone, or many people may pool their resources to complete it. Follow your means as conditions allow. Small contributions accumulate to become great; just as a mountain begins with a single basket of earth. Work together in harmony; just as cupped handfuls of water can form a vast ocean. Such a rare and auspicious gathering is hard to encounter again. Do not let this good opportunity pass. I speak this truth. Now, each of you, offer your hand.
