> Dependent Origination Verse

> All phenomena arise from conditions, And all phenomena cease due to conditions. Birth and death are both conditional— Their true nature is directly cut off. If you don't grasp this directness, You cling to questions and answers. When the answers don't fit perfectly, Everything shifts in an instant. You ask, I answer; You fall silent, I rest. There is no one who abides— Neither "one" nor "two" is held. The fundamental is not-two, And even "one" is not one. Since "one" and "two" are both denied, How can conditions be real? Precisely because they are unreal, Myriad phenomena arise from them. Day and night alternate endlessly— They mutually create waking and sleeping. The two oppose each other— How can truth and falsehood be discerned? At the moment you are awake, You clearly know the dream is false. But while you are dreaming, How could you know that waking is real? Since they can't know each other, What can you rely on? Seeing, hearing, sensing, knowing— Their meanings follow consecutively— If you don't realize they are illusory, You grasp them and become confused. If you can fully understand this, You will reach the stage of the Thus-Come One.
