> Jade Shine Tower

> By the King of Yue's city, hills and waters grace, A scholar seeks peace, rejecting noisy pace. Buys a garden, builds a room, far from the mart, Picks herbs, gathers ferns, and shuns the proud heart. Three paths: chrysanthemums, willows line the way, A stone-carved pond where lotus blooms sway. East hill stands tall, west peak rises high, Green pines and bamboo in beauty vie. Bamboo sounds like lutes that maidens play, Wind through pines is like Boya's zither's lay. Remote paths shun horse and carriage sound, Deep streams let light boats float around. Ye Stream winds past the tower's base, Legends tell of Xie Fu's dwelling place. These hills and streams are no less fine Than Jin's, but Ming's literature doth shine. Unlike Dongpo's Ode to Red Cliff grand, I pity Langya Odes that understand. Langya and Ruoye—one scene, yet Clear and muddy, high and low, no set. Qinwang tower soars, Mirror Lake so clear, White Spring trickles through rocks, crystal mere. Stream mist like incense smoke up-curled, Songs echo from lotus-picking girls, world. Lotus girls, so lovely, none can compare, Fingers gather water chestnuts, beauty rare. Clear pool and moon each other embrace, Bright pearls fall in a crystal case. Fish and dragons know not water's might, And stray with me while hills I tread in night. Winding paths to Ruoye often turn, Twisting, by chance I reach a lord's concern. Red doors, white walls, heaven and earth apart, Zhu's estate, a garden of the heart. Thousands of scrolls of poems on the shelf, Ten thousand green hills on the roof itself. Bamboo shade surrounds a hundred acres wide, Peaks and cliffs sit close at the right side. The host loves gallantry, never tires of guests, Golden cups brim full, drinks put minds at rest. No drinking by pond, tree, or banquet bowers, Just a poem and wine for joyful hours. Drunk, we don't feel moon shedding light, Laughing, we trace the road home in the night.
