### 登香罏峰

> Climbing the Incense Burner Peak

短笻獨上香罏峰。逍遙不與人世同。壯哉天地一芥子。廓落孤身等太空。逸翮如飛上霄漢。顛狂誤謂游崆峒。倦行趺坐就磐石。玉樹奇花多玲瓏。石崖萬丈不見底。蒼蘚磷磷清風起。小禽羊角入雲端。老儂衣薄寒毛竪。烟嵐忽爾滿山谷。四面平鋪擬裀褥。仰看紅日麗天心。人說雷雨過山腹。濃雲乍散續還斷。翠靄欲流芳草綠。瀑布飛飛簾幕珠。山禽滑滑啼林麓。鹿麋知我忘機者。馴遶左右伴幽獨。伴幽獨。吚吚如訴還如哭。中心要見出世因。可惜時人不知福。

> I climb Fragrant Peak, alone with my short bamboo staff; So free, unlike the world, not bound by human laugh. How grand! This universe inside a single mustard seed; So vast, this lonely body, empty as space indeed. My wings soar like a bird, up to the heavenly lane; So wild, I think I've wandered to Mount Kongtong in vain. Tired from walking, I sit cross-legged on a flat stone; Jade trees and wondrous flowers shine, translucent and alone. A stone cliff, ten thousand feet, with no bottom in sight; Green moss glimmers, as a pure breeze begins its flight. A small bird spirals upward, into clouds drifting light; Old as I am, thin clothes make my hair stand with cold fright. Suddenly mist and haze fill every mountain and vale; Spread flat on all sides, like a blanket spread to the tale. I look up—the red sun adorns the center of the sky; Someone says thunder and rain passed the mountain's nigh. Thick clouds now part, then join, then break, and then again fade; Green mist nearly flows, where fragrant grass is gently laid. Waterfalls fly like curtain beads, a pearly cascade; Mountain birds chirp smoothly, in forest shade their song made. Deer know I am one who has let go of all schemes; Tame, they circle near, keeping my solitude in beams. Keeping my solitude—then whispering, as if grief they weep: The heart longs to see the root of leaving birth's great deep. What a pity! People of this age do not know such bliss to keep.
