### 幽燕懷山中

> Mount Youyan in Huai Prefecture

山中多樂事。逈然異城郭。長年少閒事。白日多寂寞。所樂無他伎。所貴無拘束。散步時獨吟。縱曠絕稜角。為客樂不少。何意生煩惱。受用勝常時。未似山中好。不見寒山子。願言寒山老。永無塵累牽。自謂可長保。菓熟猿摘多。山深客過少。水清茶有味。葉墮風自掃。携手招拾得。共返來時道。

> In the mountains, joys are many—far different from the city's walls. All year long, few idle cares; by day, a quiet solitude. My simple pleasures don't require special skills; what I treasure most is being unfettered. Sometimes I stroll and hum alone, roaming wide, free of sharp edges. As a guest here, my happiness is no small thing—why would I let worry arise? The simple comforts surpass the usual life; nothing compares to dwelling in the mountains. I haven't seen Master Hanshan, but I long for the old mountain life. Free forever from the pull of worldly dust, I feel I can sustain this peace. When fruit ripens, the monkeys pick them in numbers; deep in the hills, few visitors come. The water is clear, the tea has flavor; leaves fall, and the wind sweeps them away. Hand in hand, I invite Shide to return with me along the path we came.
