### 光明寺

> Guangming Temple

洛陽宜壽里有苞信縣令段暉宅。地下常聞鐘聲。時見五色光明。照於堂宇。暉甚異之。遂掘地。得金像一軀。可高三尺。並有二菩薩。趺上銘云。晉泰始二年五月十五日侍中中書監荀勗造。暉遂舍宅為光明寺。咸云。此是荀勗故宅。其後盜者欲竊此像。像與菩薩。合聲喝賊。盜者驚怖。即時殞倒。眾僧聞像叫聲。遂擒之。出洛陽伽藍記

> In Luoyang's Yishou Ward, there once stood the residence of Duan Hui, the magistrate of Baoxin County. From beneath the ground, the sounds of a bell could often be heard, and at times, a shimmering light of five colors would illuminate the hall. Duan Hui found this very strange, so he had the ground dug up. There, they uncovered a golden Buddha statue, about three feet tall, along with two attendant bodhisattvas. An inscription on the pedestal read: "Commissioned by Xun Xu, Palace Attendant and Director of the Imperial Secretariat, on the 15th day of the 5th month in the 2nd year of the Taishi era of Jin." Duan Hui then donated his residence to become Guangming Temple. Many said this had originally been Xun Xu's old home. Later, a thief attempted to steal the Buddha statue, but the statue and the bodhisattvas together cried out, "Stop, thief!" The thief, terrified, fell to the ground on the spot. Hearing the statue's cry, the monks came and quickly apprehended him. <note>Record from the Luoyang Qielan Ji</note>
