> Chapter 22: Dedication and Exhortation

> The root of wrong views often stems from the teachings of teachers and friends. Although past karma plays a role, how can one avoid the delusions that arise from one's own mind? Since delusions never leave the mind, retribution will inevitably be hard to escape from the realm of suffering. Once these views stain the consciousness, there is no turning back from the transformation of all things. For this reason, the \*Precious King Samādhi—Direct Pointers to Mindfulness of the Buddha\* was composed. I have set this intention, moved by the great suffering bound by karma in the Saha world and contemplating the freedom of the pure land’s rewards and environment. Purity and defilement interweave; sentient beings and Buddhas reveal each other. The infinite ocean of meaning is gathered within the mind. With the above merits and all virtuous roots cultivated from mindfulness and aspiration for rebirth in the pure land, throughout the future, following the nature of the Dharma-reality, I dedicate them cyclically without end. From the result back to the cause, they pervade every atom of the universe. As practice and vow, I dedicate them to all sentient beings, that all may be perfectly accomplished and together be reborn in the pure land. Furthermore, I vow that by the power of this mindfulness, the ocean of realms in the ten directions and all beings in the Saha world—whether collectively or individually, in their bodies, minds, surroundings, and material forms—will, at one moment, enter into the tip of a single hair of the blissful land’s lord, the Immeasurable Light. All will become a land of bliss, freely manifesting, playing with spiritual powers, dwelling as the Buddha dwells, leaving nothing behind. Only then will my vow be fulfilled. With a focused mind, I gather all virtuous roots cultivated through body, speech, and mind—whether great or small, from beginningless time to the end of the future—bringing them before me. Universally, together with all sentient beings, I single-mindedly dedicate everything toward rebirth in the ultimate bliss land. Respectfully I invoke the power of all Buddhas, the power of Amitabha’s vow, and the power of the two great bodhisattvas’ merits. May this Dharma-door, may this virtuous root, pervade my six senses and all parts of my body. May my senses and wisdom be freely empowered. May my body fill the entire cosmos, and everywhere be able to proclaim this Dharma-door. With this very body, before all sentient beings, throughout the future, may I never tire or weary. May I make offerings and pay reverence as if serving the World-Honored One. Prostrating with five limbs touching the ground, kneeling with palms joined, with sincere intention I exhort with this verse: (In the translation, the final line about the verse is implied. The actual verse is not provided in your original text. Please confirm if you'd like the verse included or if you have the verse text.)

> The Pure Land is the purest of all realms, Sublime and wondrous, beyond the mundane world. Amitabha's vows are vast as the sky, His radiant form and light are likewise boundless. His thoughts never leave sentient beings, Saving all beings, guiding us to be born there. But we have contentedly stayed in birth and death, Sinking for eons, unable to transcend. That Buddha has long held out his hand, waiting, Sighing and snapping his fingers, urgently calling. His light is about to shine, the lotus to bloom, Now is the time—wish to be born there! Life soon ends, time swiftly passes, All pains and afflictions press upon us—we should depart. Let us quickly recite the Buddha's name and practice together, In this very life, be born in the Pure Land.

> I also vow that this teaching will remain in the world forever, like the Buddha's Dharma body, acting as a friend who comes without being called, benefiting and bringing joy to all beings so they may be reborn together in the Pure Land. May the devas, nagas, and other celestial guardians always protect and uphold this teaching, ensuring it is never destroyed. May it flow forever, like the true nature of reality, and abide eternally with the Buddha.
