### 三恒真淨土者

> Three Eternal Pure Lands

即靈山會上所指淨土。引三乘權教菩薩令知此土即薉恒淨。諸眾信而未見。夫薉性本寂。俗相恒空。故菩薩居薉恒寂。入俗常空。正顯淨義。但眾生執海難清。識繩易縛。言業本空則恣情作業。言行無體即肆意冥行。犯永嘉所呵。墮善星所墜。以致生遭王難。死為魔眷者。往往而是。嗟夫使盡大地皆菩薩。斯言誠為利益。儻菩薩少而凡夫多。則斯言之利天下也少。而害天下多矣誰敢以恒真淨土之言為利少害多。非大悟者不能有此膽識。

> This refers to the Pure Land spoken of at Vulture Peak, guiding those following the provisional teachings of the Three Vehicles—bodhisattvas included—to realize that this very world, though seemingly impure, is inherently pure. Many have faith in this truth but have yet to see it for themselves. Now, the nature of impurity is fundamentally still, and worldly appearances are always empty. Thus, a bodhisattva dwells in impurity yet remains still, enters the worldly yet stays constant in emptiness—this truly reveals the meaning of purity. However, sentient beings are trapped in an ocean of attachments that is hard to clear, and the ropes of consciousness easily bind them. When they hear that karma has no inherent nature, they indulge recklessly in wrongdoing. When they hear that actions have no essence, they give themselves over to aimless behavior. Such people fall into the error criticized by Master Yongjia and descend into the ruin that befell Shandevata. In this life, they suffer the consequences of rulers; after death, they become the kin of demons. Such cases are everywhere. Alas! If everyone in the world were a bodhisattva, these teachings would undoubtedly be beneficial. But if bodhisattvas are few and ordinary beings many, then the benefit of such teachings to the world is small, while the harm they cause is great.<note>Who would dare say that the teaching of the ever-pure Pure Land brings little benefit and much harm? Without deep awakening, no one would have such courage and insight.</note>
