### 八諸方淨土者

> Pure Lands of All Directions

如東方藥師。南方日月燈。上方香積。佛佛各有淨土。皆是實報莊嚴。或佛神力顯現。或菩薩詣彼供養。緣彼佛未言攝生。故眾生無緣生彼。即妙喜世界雖有往生者。未聞無動有普引之言。且有須彌諸山及鬼神婦女。嚴淨不如安養也。又瑠璃世界釋迦亦勸往生。然藥師經正旨為助生極樂。勸人息滅惑業成就念佛三昧。還同折門教意。非比阿彌如來純以念佛攝一切人往生彼土也。

> Consider the Medicine Buddha in the East, the Sun-and-Moon-Lamp Buddha in the South, and the Incense-Abundance Buddha in the Upper Realm. Each of these Buddhas possesses a purified land – true, fully-realized realms of splendor. However, some of these pure lands only appear through the Buddha’s miraculous power or as a place for Bodhisattvas to visit and make offerings. Because those Buddhas have not explicitly vowed to bring beings to their lands, ordinary beings lack the conditions to be reborn there. Even the Joyful Realm, though it does receive some stream-enterers, has not offered, like the Unmoving Buddha, a universal invitation for all beings. Moreover, it still contains Mount Sumeru, various mountains, ghosts, spirits, and women, making its purity and perfection not equal to that of the Land of Peace and Bliss. Furthermore, although Shakyamuni also encourages rebirth in the Lapis Lazuli Realm of the Medicine Buddha, the primary purpose of the Medicine Buddha Sutra is actually to help beings achieve rebirth in Sukhavati. It teaches people to extinguish afflictions and misdeeds and to realize the Buddha-Recollection Samadhi. Its intent is still aligned with the expedient gate of teaching, not comparable to Amitabha Buddha, who solely uses the practice of reciting the Buddha’s name to bring all beings to rebirth in His land.
