### 第二緣起門

> Second Principle: Dependent Origination

夫樂鮑肆者不念檀栴。非實不念。以不厭故。乍使引之晤室。爇栴炙沉。不終日而悲其昔之薉。厭離之不早也。夫生死臭薉愈於鮑肆。眾生貪嗜倍彼蠅蚋。諸佛為鬻香長者。愍一輩人天沒溺濁海。是故阿彌導師廣開香嚴之肆。釋迦慈父確指淨域之門。盡大地無非貧兒。一佛號便為資本。莫離十念足驗誠言。塞鼻臆腥久當自厭。今約西方起教。略分十義。

> Those who delight in a fish market do not think of sandalwood or aloeswood. It is not that they are truly unaware of them, but because they have no aversion to the stench. If, however, they were suddenly taken into a fragrant room where sandalwood and aloeswood are burning, before the day is out they would mourn the filth of their former surroundings, regretting that they did not abandon it sooner. The foulness of birth and death is far worse than a fish market, and sentient beings' clinging to it is more intense than that of flies and maggots. The buddhas act as merchants of incense, pitying the multitudes of humans and gods drowning in the turbid sea. Thus, the Guide Amitabha widely opens the sublime incense market, and the Compassionate Father Shakyamuni firmly points to the gate of the Pure Land. The entire great earth is filled with poor children; one single Buddha-name is their capital. Do not depart from ten recitations—this is sufficient proof of the true teaching. When the stench and rankness block the nose, aversion will naturally arise over time. Therefore, to establish the teaching of the Western Land, I will now briefly divide it into ten points.
