### 七勝方便者

> Seven Skillful Means

此方便非自力亦非他力。自性海中具有如是自在功德。一切現成。是故一句聖號無復煩詞。十念功成頓超多劫。如萬竅怒號力在扶搖。因竅顯故。幽谷洞明功在晨曦。因谷見故。一綫蟻孔能穿連山之堤。是水力因蟻透故。一葉葦席能運萬斛之舟。是風力因葦張故。總皆法界性海。無作無為不思議力所現。非自非他。自他具足。故有如是殊勝方便。是謂捷中之捷。徑中之徑。舍此不修。是真愚癡千古不易之論。

> This skillful means does not rely on one's own efforts, nor on the help of others. Within the ocean of our true nature, these effortless virtues and powers are already present. Everything is already complete. Therefore, a single sacred name has no need for complex explanations. Ten recitations accomplish the goal, instantly transcending countless eons. It is like the roaring wind through a thousand hollows—its power lies in the force of the whirlwind, which is made visible through those hollows. It is like a dark valley suddenly illuminated—the sunlight's power is revealed through the valley. A single ant hole can break through even a massive river embankment; this is the water's force, made effective through the ant's passage. A single reed mat can carry a boat weighing ten thousand bushels; this is the wind's power, made effective through the mat's expanse. In every case, this is the manifestation of the Dharmadhatu nature sea—the power of inconceivable, effortless, and unconditioned truth. It is neither self nor other, yet self and other are both fully present. Therefore, such a supremely skillful method exists. It is called the most direct of the direct paths, the most expedient of the expedient methods. To abandon this and not practice it is truly ignorance <note>An unchanging truth through the ages.</note>.
