> Ten Demonstrations of True Dharma

> All Dharma methods that speak of emptiness or existence are not the ultimate. This Samadhi of Buddha Recitation is such that in the very act of recitation, purity is realized; purity is not nothingness. In the very state of purity, recitation takes place; recitation is not existence. To realize that purity has no fixed support is to understand the essence of recitation. To understand that recitation is originally free of attachment is to see the function of purity. Therefore, it is not that there is a recitation outside of purity that can recite toward purity. If there were recitation outside of purity, then recitation would have an object; that object would not be true purity. Nor is it that there is a purity outside of recitation that can purify the act of recitation. If there were purity outside of recitation, then purity would be divided into two; the dual is not true purity. Know that all Buddhas, following the mind of still and perfect tranquility, adorn the Pure Land. When you recite the Pure Land, you should enter all gates of stillness and tranquility. The Buddhas, following the mind of true eternity, bliss, self, and purity, adorn the Pure Land. When you recite the Pure Land, you should enter all gates of eternity, bliss, self, and purity. The Buddhas, following the mind of equal and impartial beings, adorn the Pure Land. When you recite the Pure Land, you should enter all gates of equal and impartial beings. The Buddhas, following the compassionate wisdom and its activity, adorn the Pure Land. When you recite the Pure Land, you should enter all gates of compassionate wisdom and activity. The Buddhas, following the action that is effortless, unconditioned, and inconceivable, adorn the Pure Land. When you recite the Pure Land, you should enter all gates of the effortless, unconditioned, and inconceivable. The Buddhas, following the very nature of afflictions and defilements, adorn the Pure Land. When you recite the Pure Land, you should enter all gates of afflictions and defilements. The Buddhas, following the nature of a speck of dust or a mustard seed, adorn the Pure Land. When you recite the Pure Land, you should enter all gates of a speck of dust or a mustard seed. All of these great Dharma gates are fully realized through a single recitation of "Amitabha." Yet there is no appearance of a "realizer" nor an "object realized." If it were otherwise, then this would be a conditional, incomplete purity. The Samadhi of Buddha Recitation is not like that.
