夫如來說教廣有多門。或偶拈一題。或因緣舉出。唯念佛一門頻形讚歎。如高巒之峙平原。躍空而出。金星之晃沙磧。映日即明。法門殊勝未有逾此者也。今約諸經言西方大事者。一槩收入。分經緯二義。經非專談安養者不收。緯則泛舉念佛者亦入。登蔥山而樵玉首採羊脂。泛溟海而斮香忍捐牛首。聞所未聞。望於來哲。

> The Tathagata’s teachings unfold through many approaches—sometimes through a single phrase, other times arising from specific conditions. Among them, the practice of mindful recitation (Nianfo) is repeatedly praised. Like a towering peak rising suddenly from a vast plain, or a golden star gleaming against desert sands, its unique brilliance outshines all other methods as soon as it appears. This work gathers references to the great matter of the Western Pure Land from various sutras. It is organized into two categories: “sutra” and “treatise.” For the “sutra” category, only texts focused on the Land of Peace and Nurture are included. For the “treatise” category, general mentions of mindful recitation are incorporated. Just as a connoisseur of jade on Mount Cong would first pick white suet jade, or a woodcutter by the vast ocean would rather discard suji wood than fragrant sandalwood—this selection aims to offer what has not been heard before. We look to future sages to carry this forward.
