### 四無餘教者

> Four Teachings of No Remainder

一切眾生平等一性。悉當成佛。為大乘極則之教。唯一自心為教體。故云無餘。淨土法門依正信願等法。究極皆歸一心。故言一心不亂即得往生。又大本。三輩生者皆云發無上菩提心。菩提心佛性是。華嚴曰。菩提心如種子。生一切佛法故。如良田長眾生白淨法故。如大地持一切世間故。如淨水洗一切煩惱垢故。如大風普於世間無所礙故。如盛火燒一切諸見薪故。廣在彼經。當知菩提心是鐵砲中利藥。念佛是藥線。華嚴初發心時便成正覺即是此義。菩薩五位加行亦藥中引線耳。無量妙行詎有加一行三昧者哉。

> All beings share one fundamental nature and will all attain Buddhahood. This is the ultimate teaching of the Great Vehicle, with the single self-mind as its essence—hence it is called "complete, without remainder." The Pure Land path, through its methods of genuine faith and vows, ultimately returns all to the One Mind. Therefore, it is said that to achieve "One Mind Undisturbed" is to attain rebirth. Additionally, in the Larger Sutra, all three grades of rebirth are described as "generating the supreme Bodhi-mind." The Bodhi-mind is Buddha-nature itself. As the Avatamsaka Sutra states: The Bodhi-mind is like a seed, for it gives rise to all Buddha-dharmas; like fertile fields, for it nurtures the pure Dharma of sentient beings; like the great earth, for it supports all worldly existence; like pure water, for it washes away all afflictions and defilements; like a great wind, for it moves unimpeded throughout the world; like a blazing fire, for it consumes the fuel of all false views. These teachings are elaborately set forth in that sutra. Know that the Bodhi-mind is like the potent medicine within a cannon, and the recitation of the Buddha's name is the fuse. The Avatamsaka teaching that "at the moment of first arousing the Bodhi-mind, one immediately attains perfect enlightenment" conveys exactly this meaning. The progressive practices of the Bodhisattva path are merely the fuses within the medicine. How could countless sublime practices ever add anything to the Single Practice Samadhi?
