### 七婦女有無者

> Seven Women: Existence and Non-Existence

聲王經。阿彌陀佛亦有父母。何得言無女人。釋。本尊成佛。國土始嚴。未入妙時。相則不定。證妙覺已。母或轉現。或示滅度。皆不可知。然海東疏曰。聲王說佛母者。是變化女。非實報女。又雖有父母而非胎生。或說聲王經有父母是顯彼佛所住薉土。是義不然。當知彼經所說提婆達多及魔王等。悉於淨士變化所作。不因有此便非淨土。如化畜生非薉土故。

> The Sutra of the King of Sound states that Amitabha Buddha also had parents. How then can it be said that there are no women \[in his Pure Land\]? Explanation: When a Buddha achieves perfect enlightenment, his land becomes sublime. Before entering the wondrous state, the forms he manifests are not fixed. After realizing perfect enlightenment, his mother may either transform into another form or pass into nirvana. One cannot know for certain. However, a commentary from the Korean tradition states: When the Sutra of the King of Sound speaks of the Buddha's mother, this refers to a transformation woman, not a true reward-body woman. Additionally, although there were parents, they were not born from a womb. Some argue that the mention of parents in the Sutra of the King of Sound indicates that Amitabha's land is impure. This is incorrect. One should know that the Devadatta and Mara figures mentioned in that sutra are all transformation beings in the Pure Land. Their presence does not make the land impure, just as the presence of transformed animals does not make it an impure land.
