> Postscript of Former Version

淨土玄門失闡久矣。雲棲大師重揭義天。海內共仰而曹魯川輩猶妄執方山合論。謬爭權實。蓋由未透圓宗。徒取圓融廣大語聲故也。西方合論一出。判之為圓實墮。然後知淨土諸經的與華嚴．法華不分優劣。可破千古羣疑矣。伏願見聞此論者。廣破邪疑。直開正信。揭淨土之心燈。照塵劫而無盡。

> For a long time, the profound gateway of the Pure Land has gone unexplained. Master Yunqi (Lianchi) revived the true principles, to the admiration of the entire world. Yet people like Cao Luchuan stubbornly cling to the misguided "Fangshan Hetreatise," arguing wrongly over provisional and ultimate teachings. This stems from their failure to penetrate the complete teaching, grasping only at its expansive and all-embracing expressions. As soon as the \*Western Pure Land Treatise\* appeared, it clearly classified these teachings as the perfect, ultimate sphere. Then it becomes clear that the Pure Land sutras are in no way inferior to the \*Avatamsaka\* or \*Lotus Sutra\*—resolving age-old doubts once and for all. I sincerely pray that all who see and hear this treatise will widely break through confusion and wrong views, and directly open their genuine faith. May it light the lamp of the Pure Land in the mind, shining through countless ages without end.
