The Liturgy for Cultivation and Verification through the Dragon-Flower Assembly is a Buddhist repentance text composed by the Tiantai master Ruxing during the Ming dynasty. Compiled against the backdrop of Buddhist revival in the late Ming period, this work aims to assist practitioners through rigorous ritual procedures in repenting karmic obstacles and accumulating merit, with the aspiration of attaining liberation in the Three Assemblies of the Dragon-Flower Gathering presided over by Maitreya Bodhisattva upon his descent into the world. Its content integrates Tiantai śamatha-vipaśyanā with repentance practice, forming a comprehensive system. As a significant text within Chinese Buddhist liturgical literature, it serves not only as a key source for studying Ming-dynasty Buddhist cultivation thought but also provides an essential foundation for later lay Buddhist repentance practice, holding a distinctive place in the history of East Asian Buddhist ritual.
