The Recorded Sayings of Chan Master Baojue Zuxin is a key text of the Huanglong school of Chinese Chan Buddhism. It contains the teachings, dialogues, and essential Chan insights of Master Huanglong Zuxin (1025–1100), a Song dynasty monk, as recorded by his attendant Zihe and later edited by his disciple Zhongjie. The work captures the Huanglong school’s emphasis on directly pointing to the mind and realizing one’s true nature to attain enlightenment. As one of the “Four Records of the Huanglong Masters,” it serves not only as a core source for studying Song dynasty Chan thought and the development of the Huanglong lineage but also as a vital text within the Yangqi branch of the Linji school, offering enduring guidance for Chan practitioners.
