> Soaring<note place="inline">The character "翱" (áo) is pronounced with a high tone and the character "翔" (xiáng) is pronounced with a falling tone. The "Shijing" (Book of Songs) says "Lamb's fur coat, soaring about," and the commentary explains "soaring" as akin to "wandering at ease." The "Erya" (Approaching Elegance) states, "Of the kite and birds of its kind, their flying is called 'soaring.'" Guo Pu comments, "Spreading wings and soaring." The "Zitong" (Character Compendium) says, "Flying without moving the wings is called 'soaring.'" The "Shuowen" (Explaining Simple and Compound Characters) defines "soaring" as "flying in circles." Both characters are composed of the "feather" radical on the right and the phonetic components "gao" (high) and "yang" (hemp) on the left, following a right-form-left-sound structure.</note>.

引𡙜徒活反字書云𡙸失也考聲云毛詩一鳥失之曰奪本作𡙜石經作𡙸或作稅皆古字也有從六作奪者非也宜改之。

> Take what is lost<note place="inline">The character "徒活反" refers to pronunciation; the dictionary says "𡙸" means "lost." The "Kao Sheng" commentary notes that in the "Book of Songs," "a bird losing its feather is called '奪'." Originally written as "𡙜," the stone classics use "𡙸," or sometimes "稅," all ancient forms. Some write it with "六" as "奪," which is incorrect and should be corrected.</note>.

> Leaping and jumping<note place="inline">"Bì" is pronounced "tú" and "dēng" in reverse; Zhuangzi says "bì yuè" where "yuè" is pronounced "yào". The Yupian explains "bì" as similar to jumping. Wang Yi's commentary on the Chuci says "bì" means to gallop. The Guangya defines "bì" as running, rising, or crossing. The Shuowen says "bì" means to transmit, composed of "boat" and "horse" with "juǎn" as the phonetic. "Yǒng" below is pronounced "yáng" and "zhǒng" in reverse; He Xiu's commentary on the Gongyang says "yǒng" means to rise up. The Hanshu mentions market goods "bì yǒng" where rice reached ten thousand cash per bushel. The Shuowen explains "yǒng" as jumping, composed of "foot" and "yǒng" as phonetic, sometimes written as "qiāo" or "pì qiāo". \[Note: The source text contains ancient Chinese dictionary definitions and phonetic annotations; the translation renders the content accessibly while preserving the note structure.\]</note>.
