### 十祖脇尊者凡一

> Tenth Patriarch, Venerable Parshva<note>All in One</note>

處胎六十年。神珠夢應。誕生之日。滿室光明。出家得道。

> For sixty years, the sacred embryo remained in the womb, while a divine pearl answered the dream. On the day of his birth, the entire room was filled with radiant light. He then left home to seek the Way and attained enlightenment.

至一林中。有富那夜奢者。恭敬合掌而立祖前。祖問。汝從何來。云我心非往。祖云。汝住何處。云我心非止。祖云。汝不定耶。云諸佛亦然。祖云。汝非諸佛。云諸佛亦非。祖知是法器。即與剃度。

> Arriving at a forest, there was one named Fu Na Ye She (Punyayasas), who stood respectfully with palms together before the Patriarch. The Patriarch asked, "Where have you come from?" He replied, "My mind does not come." The Patriarch asked, "Where do you dwell?" He replied, "My mind does not abide." The Patriarch asked, "Are you not settled?" He replied, "So are all Buddhas." The Patriarch said, "You are not a Buddha." He replied, "Nor are the Buddhas." The Patriarch, recognizing him as a vessel of the Dharma, had him shaved and ordained.

付法說偈云。真體自然真。因真說有理。領得真真法。無行亦無止。

> The Dharma transmission verse says: The true essence is naturally true. Because of this truth, the teaching has meaning. Having realized the true truth of truth, there is neither practice nor cessation.
