### 襄陽府石門紹遠禪師嗣石門徹

僧問。四方八面來時如何。曰。赤脚波斯鼻齅天。　問。如何是祖師西來意。曰。石牛攔古路。木馬驟高樓。

> A monk asked, "When \[questions/attacks\] come from all directions, what should one do?" The master replied, "A barefoot Persian smells heaven with his nose." Another monk asked, "What is the meaning of the Patriarch coming from the West?" The master replied, "A stone ox blocks the ancient road; a wooden horse gallops on a high tower."
