爾時世尊。種智圓成。熏修示迹。悲深願廣。應現受生。性潔霜花。心馳雪嶺。逾城午夜。習想六年。沐尼連河。詣菩提樹。陞金剛座。敷吉祥茅。諸定遍修。明星現悟。頓成正覺。等念含生。四十九年。三乘顯著。拈花普示。微笑初傳。對大眾前印正法眼。囑行教外。別付上根。蓮目普觀。華偈親說。

> At that time, the World-Honored One had perfectly realized all-knowing wisdom. Through sustained cultivation, he manifested the path and, with deep compassion and vast vows, responded to the world and took birth. His nature was pure as frost upon a flower, and his mind raced toward the snowy peaks. At midnight, he left the city; for six years he practiced contemplation. He bathed in the Nairanjana River and approached the Bodhi tree. Ascending the Vajra Seat, he spread the吉祥 grass, perfected all forms of meditation, and at the appearance of the morning star, awakened to enlightenment. Instantaneously, he became a fully enlightened one, extending equal compassion to all beings. For forty-nine years, he distinctly revealed the three vehicles. Under the universal gesture of holding up a flower, the first smile transmitted the teaching. Before the great assembly, he confirmed the true Dharma eye, entrusting it to be passed down outside the scriptures, specially bestowed upon those of superior capacity. With lotus-like eyes, he beheld all universally; the stanza of the flower was personally proclaimed.

法本法無法 無法法亦法今付無法時 法法何曾法

> The Dharma originally has no fixed form; What has no form is still the Dharma. Now, when we entrust this formless Dharma, How could any Dharma ever be fixed?
