### 洪州壽聖普誗禪師

> Master Hongzhou Shousheng Puchan

問。朝蓋已臨於法會。還有西來意也無。

> Question: Though the morning canopy has already arrived at this Dharma assembly, is there still the meaning of coming from the West?

師云。上士由山水。

> The Master said: "Superior people are drawn to mountains and waters."

問。說佛說法。殃及兒孫。演妙談玄。野狐群隊。離此二途。如何為人。

> Question: "When the Buddha speaks the Dharma, it troubles even his descendants. Expounding the wondrous and discussing the profound only gathers packs of wild foxes. Apart from these two paths, how can one guide others?"

師云。一箇不得。兩箇又多。

> The teacher said, "One is not enough, but two is too many."

僧曰。一葉落。天下秋。

師云。谷秀花鋪錦。

僧曰。不因舉棹。爭見漁人。

師云。將謂胡鬚赤。
