### 越州融光自聞音禪師

> Master Ziwen Yin of Rongguang Temple in Yuezhou

上堂。有僧纔出。師以杖約曰。高高山頂立。深深海底行。汝作麼生會。僧曰。行藏原不屬他人。師曰。孟八郎漢。又恁麼去。僧擬開口。師便打。

> The Master ascended the hall. A monk stepped forward. The Master, using his staff to stop him, said, "Stand on the high mountain peak, walk at the deep ocean floor. How do you understand this?" The monk replied, "Coming and going depends not on others." The Master said, "A reckless fellow, heading off in that direction again." The monk was about to speak, but the Master struck him.
