The *Xudeng Cungao Catalogue* is a significant Chan Buddhist lineage record compiled by the Ming dynasty monk Yuanji Juding. Completed in the early Ming period, this work belongs to the "lamp record" genre of historical texts, aiming to continue earlier works such as the *Jingde Era Transmission of the Lamp*. It systematically documents the dialogues, encounters, and transmission lineages of Chan patriarchs and eminent masters throughout history. The content covers genealogical successions, koan exchanges, and Chan teachings, making it a key text for studying the history and intellectual development of Chan Buddhism during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Although parts of the original text have been lost—indicated by the notation "(missing)" in the titles—the catalogue remains an important scholarly resource, providing authoritative historical evidence for the transmission of Chan Buddhism.
