The *Verses on the Heart of Dependent Arising* and its *Commentary*, composed by the Bodhisattva Nāgārjuna, are essential treatises that elucidate the core teaching of dependent origination. Combining concise verses with detailed explanations, these works systematically present the process of arising and cessation within the twelve links of dependent origination, revealing the root of cyclic existence and the path to liberation. Their thought inherits the correct view of the Middle Way from Nāgārjuna and are regarded as one of the authoritative works within Mahāyāna Buddhism for understanding the law of cause and effect. They have profoundly influenced later Madhyamaka and Yogācāra schools and are highly revered in both Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist traditions, serving as vital texts for studying the perfection of wisdom, emptiness, and the principle of dependent arising.
