> Those who fear death do so because they have not yet realized that, fundamentally, there is no birth. Since originally there is no birth, how could there be death? What, then, is there to fear? However, realizing this state of no-birth is not something easily achieved overnight. For now, we should simply focus wholeheartedly on reciting the Buddha's name. With prolonged practice, as our recitation reaches a state of single-minded concentration, we will surely attain enlightenment. Even if we do not achieve enlightenment, the power of a lifetime of mindfulness will be known to us at the moment of death. Then, passing away, we will be reborn in the Pure Land. This is like a wanderer in a foreign land finally returning home. Amitabha Buddha reaches out to welcome us. With boundless joy, what is there to fear?
