### 答通州孫居士廣諒

> A response to Layman Sun Guangliang of Tongzhou

來問出世真諦。夫世即出世。則不須求出。真非妄外。則何用覔真。此意未會。則莫若一心念佛。念極而悟。悟則無論。縱不大悟。而離此娑婆。生彼淨土。即是出世。消滅雜念。純一正念。即是真諦。今亦不管出不出真不真。但工夫做到一心。自然了當矣。

> I now ask about the ultimate truth of transcending the world. If the world itself is transcendence, then there is no need to seek transcendence. If truth is not separate from illusion, then why search for truth? If you cannot grasp this meaning, then there is no better approach than to single-mindedly recite the Buddha's name. When reciting reaches its极致, enlightenment occurs. Once enlightened, there is no need to discuss it further. Even if you do not attain great enlightenment, if you leave this Saha world and are reborn in the Pure Land, that is transcending the world. Eliminating stray thoughts and cultivating pure, single-minded mindfulness is the ultimate truth. Now, do not worry about whether it is transcendence or not, truth or not. Simply focus your efforts on achieving one-pointedness of mind, and naturally everything will be resolved.
