### 答為廣鐈為母墮胎求懺

> Confession for Abortion on Behalf of a Mother

古云。寧可九蓮居下品。不來人世受胞胎。厭患胞胎但勤念佛。一心念佛。蓮花化生。

> An ancient saying goes: Better to dwell in the lowest lotus rank than to come into this world and be born from a womb. If you grow weary of womb-birth, simply practice mindful recitation of the Buddha's name. With single-minded devotion to reciting the Buddha's name, you will be born transformed from a lotus flower.

問。一心稱名時。又著求生。不幾二念乎。

> Question: When we single-mindedly call upon the name \[of Guanyin\], yet also seek to be reborn \[in the Pure Land\], doesn't this create two different thoughts?

答。求生須於早晚發願時。若稱名時。一心一念不可夾雜。譬如舉業家。讀書作文。其行也。其所以讀書作文者為何。要中舉中進士。其願也。

> Answer: You must make this vow during your morning and evening practice sessions. When reciting the Buddha's name, maintain single-minded concentration without any distraction. It's like a scholar preparing for the imperial examinations. When they read books and write essays, that is their practice. But why do they read and write? It is to pass the exams and earn official degrees — that is their vow.

端坐念佛。恐心難攝。不若經行。

> Sitting quietly and reciting the Buddha’s name, you might worry that your mind is hard to focus. If so, it is better to practice walking meditation.

參念佛是誰。須是有真疑起。真疑未起。且默念去。

> Contemplate the question: "Who is reciting the Buddha's name?" This requires genuine doubt to arise. If this genuine doubt has not yet arisen, recite silently to yourself.

禪定人雖願力不深。亦能往生。然修淨業者信願行。如鼎三足。缺一不可。

> A person practicing meditation may still attain rebirth even if their vow power is not deep. However, those cultivating pure karma must have faith, vows, and practice, like a tripod's three legs—none can be missing.

法滅之際。凡舉一莖草。便成鎗刃。可以殺人。此時諸法已滅。止留彌陀一句救人。人有念得一句全者。便為世間師。

> At the time of the Dharma's extinction, even lifting a single blade of grass can become a sharp weapon capable of killing. In that era, all teachings will have vanished, leaving only the single phrase of Amitabha to save people. Whoever can recite this complete phrase will become a teacher for the world.
