### 歸戒圖說

> Illustrated Guide to Taking Refuge and Precepts

-   歸依佛。不墮地獄。我今歸依佛。
-   歸依法。不墮餓鬼。我今歸依法。
-   歸依僧。不墮旁生。我今歸依僧。

-   一不殺生　凡有命者不得殺害。
-   二不偷盜　一針一草不問不取。

既受歸戒。諸惡莫作。眾善奉行。一心念佛。求生淨土。諸惡。謂不忠不孝。不仁。不義。如是諸惡不能盡舉。但瞞天昧心等事。便不應作。眾善。謂忠。孝。仁。義。如是眾善。不能盡舉。但上順天理。下合人心等事。便應力行。念佛。謂一心持念阿彌陀佛。萬德洪名。每日。或念一千。二千。三五七千。或至於萬。隨意多少。凡一千念。則點一圈。先白。次黃。次紅。次青。四徧點過。滿四十八萬。持。此佛前證明。乃議微細用心。參入元境。

> Once you have received the precepts and taken refuge, avoid all evil, practice all good, and with single-minded focus recite the Buddha’s name, seeking rebirth in the Pure Land. "All evil" refers to things like disloyalty, unfilial conduct, lack of kindness, and injustice. These evils cannot be listed in full, but you should not do anything that deceives heaven or your own conscience. "All good" refers to things like loyalty, filial piety, kindness, and justice. These good deeds cannot be listed in full either, but you should energetically practice all actions that are in accord with the principles of heaven above and the feelings of people below. "Reciting the Buddha’s name" means single-mindedly chanting the name of Amitabha Buddha, his all-virtuous and radiant title. Each day, recite it one thousand, two thousand, three, five, or seven thousand times, or even up to ten thousand times—whatever amount suits you. For every one thousand recitations, mark a circle: first white, then yellow, then red, then blue. After completing these four rounds, you will have reached 480,000 recitations. Present this before the Buddha as proof. Then, discuss the more subtle aspects of the mind and enter into the primal realm.
