> The lotus pond is not a place for growing lotuses for their beauty— The lotus is the great awakened being among all flowers. When the flower blooms and the lotus forms, cause brings fruit; When the lotus matures and the flower falls, the provisional yields to the ultimate. Unfolding its thousand petals, the full potential appears; Gathering into a single seedpod, all virtues are complete. When the dream of red and purple in the capital is fully awakened— The lotus pond is not a place for growing lotuses for their beauty.

> The lotus pond is not just for planting flowers; The lotus is a worldly immortal among blooms. Within its leaves, fish and dragons become pure companions; Outside, duckweed and algae weave a perfect bond. On cool, windy nights, painted boats pass with flutes and drums; On drizzly days, bamboo hats and fishing lines appear. Planted in mud yet staying spotless— The lotus pond is not just for planting flowers.

> The lotus pond is not planted out of love for the lotus flower— The lotus is the patient immortal among all blooms. Fortunately, its deep roots are buried in muddy soil, While famous flowers, by choice, take the highlands. Its petals open, blazing under the scorching sun, all the more splendid; Its seedpods fall in the bitter autumn frost, even harder and resolute. At its heart, one pure green seed holds the secret of creation— The lotus pond is not planted out of love for the lotus flower.

> The lotus pond is not for those who simply love to plant flowers— The lotus is the liberated sage among blooms, surpassing worldly powers. Pure in form, it turns from rouge and powdered grace; Its fragrant soul has no desire for banquets in brocade's embrace. Through a thousand hidden channels, it clears all barriers found; A noble, solitary blossom, unbound by worldly ground. In blue water under azure sky, it dwells in endless ease— The lotus pond itself doesn't plant lotuses for its own ease.
