### 淨土難信之法

> Difficult-to-Believe Dharma of the Pure Land

淺淨土者。以為愚夫愚婦所行道。天如斥之。謂非鄙愚夫愚婦。是鄙馬鳴。龍樹。文殊。普賢也。故予作彌陀經。疏鈔。乃發其甚深旨趣。則又以為解此經不宜太深。是畢竟愚夫愚婦所行道也。佛謂此經難信之法不宜然乎。

> Some people dismiss the Pure Land teaching as a path only for the simple and uneducated. Tianru rebukes this, saying: "You are not belittling the common folk—you are belittling Asvaghosa, Nagarjuna, Manjusri, and Samantabhadra." Thus, in my commentary on the Amitabha Sutra, I elucidated its profound meaning. Yet some then argue that this sutra should not be explained too deeply—after all, it is merely the path for the simple and uneducated. The Buddha declared this sutra to be a teaching difficult to believe. Is this not exactly the case?
