### 淨土壽終

> Pure Land Rebirth at Life's End

或問第二願云。國中天人壽終更無生三惡道者。則有生有死。特不墮落耳。何謂生彼國者。皆無量壽。曰後不云乎。國中天人壽皆無量。除其本願。願出度生者。十疑論亦曰。生彼國土。得無生忍已。還來此世。救苦眾生。則悲願行化。非此土死生比也。

> Someone asks about the second vow: "It says that beings in the Land of Bliss, when their life ends, will never again be reborn in the three lower realms. That still implies birth and death — they just avoid falling into evil states. So how can it be said that all born there have infinite life?" The response: "Doesn't the text later say that the lifespan of beings in that land is immeasurable, except for those who, following their original vows, choose to leave in order to save others? The \*Ten Doubts Treatise\* also says that after being reborn in that land and attaining the patience of non-arising, one can return to this world to rescue suffering beings. Such compassionate vows and compassionate action are not comparable to the ordinary cycle of birth and death in this world."
